Once heroin was considered a “hard-core” drug used by only the most serious addicts. Now, in our community and others, heroin has become more “mainstream” than “hard core” – and a new generation of addicts is emerging. Opiate painkillers, particularly OxyContin, and heroin are frighteningly similar.
